TEACHING STAFF
Carolyn C. Preschool
Carolyn holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Franklin Pierce University. After 16 years staying at home to raise her three children, Carolyn's heart lead her back to work with preschool children. So, at the age of 43, she returned to school to earn an additional degree in Early Childhood Education. For the next three years she served as head teacher in another shoreline preschool program. She really enjoyed her time there working with 3-5 year olds, but when the pandemic closed their doors, she was anxious to get back to work. She is really excited to be here at the Carrot Patch, and says she feels honored to be part of our beautiful, homey school! |
Allison D. Infants/Toddlers
Ally has always had a passion for educating children. Since earning her Bachelor’s Degree from Central Connecticut State University, she nannied for a family in Massachusetts, taught first and second grade religious education, and worked as a public school paraprofessional. Ally loves being outside, whether it’s hiking, golfing, or at the beach. She enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and her cat, and is so happy to be part of such a caring community here at the Carrot Patch. |
Amy D. Preschool (currently on maternity leave)
Amy received her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Roger Williams University in Rhode Island. Since then she has enjoyed working with children as a Head Teacher, substitute teacher, nanny, and as a caregiver for an autistic child. Amy, married to a Coast Guard officer, has held positions all along the eastern seaboard, and we're please to report she is serving an extended tour with us here at the Carrot Patch-Shoreline! |
Susan K. Toddlers (currently on leave)
Susan earned a Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy from Boston University and a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Sue retired after a lengthy career as a licensed school system occupational therapist, where she worked with children from preschool to high school. She has recently moved to the Connecticut shoreline, and has become a welcome member of our toddler teaching team. |
Julia M. Infants/Toddlers
As our most seasoned staff member, Julia brings her decades of experience with infants and toddlers to help make this the warmest, happiest place a little one could spend his or her days! After earning her Bachelor's Degree in Education at Exeter University in her native England, Julia opted to care for young children in several private settings along the U.S East Coast. For the nine years prior to joining our staff, she was the lead infant/toddler teacher in another well-respected Shoreline program. We knew we had found the right match when she proclaimed: "Young children need to know they are loved! It's all about developing close relationships and building trust, through cuddles and responding to their cues." |
Karen T. Preschool
Karen holds a Bachelor's Degree in Developmental Psychology from Fairfield University. After retiring as an official with the State of Connecticut, she returned to her first love and began a second career--in education. She has spent the last several years as a full-time special education paraprofessional at an elementary school in Madison. For many years Karen has volunteered as an elementary cheerleading coach and as a religious educator at her church. She is so happy to focus her time and attention on young children! |
